Officially Monday

I had completely forgotten about this picture until Mel sent it.
Cheese!
Last night was probably the best sleep that I have gotten in a long, long while. Apparently the secret is to get absolutely no sleep on Saturday night, get a 30 minute nap on Sunday afternoon, and pound your alarm 60 times the following morning. Needless to say, I dragged my butt into work this morning.

So, what happened this weekend? Cookout!

We decided to have a cookout for one of Billy's friends. It was her birthday the weekend before, and she had not celebrated it. So, Billy asked if they could stay, and I granted his request. Friday, they were suppose to come into town, but didn't. So, I went along and had my personal training session (which I am still in pain from), went to Wal-mart for some items including pillows for my guest, and then went home and finished cleaning. Later that night, I got a text from Billy...Maria wasn't coming. Too bad, on with the party!

Saturday, Billy came over around 2:00. We had lunch, got our items, purchased probane for the grill, and then sat on the wall by the river drinking Corona while the burgers marinated. How can you beat that? It was an awesome way to spend an afternoon if you ask me.

Five rolled around and people started to show up. I had Sarah N., Sarah S. and Nhut in the kitchen cutting and seasoning potato wedges,  and Darrin on the grill with the burgers and hot dogs. If you come to my house, expect to work. No free rides here.

After we ate, and had some of Melanie's muffins that she made for us (I love that woman!) we all grabbed chairs and sat out by the river drinking and shooting the breeze. Then Chris (Melaine's husband) came out to walk their new Dalmatian puppy. The girls went nuts and ran over there and played with her. Ena, the pup, got scared and hid. Poor little girl. The funny thing is that she and Mo have made great friends. They actually play together. It is the cutest thing.

Anywho. After that Mel, Billy, Darrin and I, decided to hit up down town. First stop of the night, Buddha. I had to get my bomb, had to, and it was delicious. Then we went over to 9d's since no one other than me had been there. They played songs that I had; (1) not thought of in forever; and (2) shockingly remembered all the words to. Then we headed over to see Hugh, who apparently doesn't work there anymore!?! I asked Paul what happened and he said that Hugh and his wife had split and that she still comes in the bar. Awkward to say the least.

Oh well, off to 8e's. It was a great time there. We danced, and danced, and danced some more. Then, Darrin and I couldn't find Billy, and apparently because he had snuck off the bar next door to use the restroom and ran into Junior. So, we headed over there and visited with him for a bit.

Finally, it was time to grab a cab. That was an interesting ride. The girl sitting in the front seat was telling guys off walking down the street. Two girls in the back seat sitting next to Billy passed out. All the girls had dropped and lost their phones under the seats, so we were using our phones and a flashlight to dig them out.

Finally we made it home where Chandler came and picked up Billy, because apparently their night wasn't over yet. The next morning though, Darrin and I picked him up at Dustin's, which I don't think Billy really remembers how he got over there. Dustin, Billy, Darrin and I then headed over to Transmet for a little pizza and topped it off with yogurt from Yoguri. In there they have little factoids on the wall and I had no idea that you could use yogurt rather than mayo. Learn something new everyday.

After an afternoon of the Hangover, relaxing and a nap, Darrin had to make his drive home. (Insert sad face). Then Billy and Dustin came over, had their Burger King, which I may have gotten a few fries from, and then I went to bed while Billy crashed on the couch. This morning, I couldn't get him to budge. So I left him the key and, again, dragged myself to work. I still got here early though. As an added bonus, the Girl Scout cookies that I order from my boss were on my desk. Yum!

Ringing In 2011

At first I was going to wait until posting about NYE since the pictures are currently stored on Sarah S.'s camera. But, then I just figured that I could go back and add them later. So...

It all started on Friday where I slept in until 9. Woot! It was like I was back in college, right? Okay, maybe not, but it felt great. I then went down stairs, made myself some breakfast and then tackled the Christmas decorations. That morning I accomplished the impossible, a feat which I was unable to master last year. I got the tree back in the box and was able to close it! Last year I had to duck tape it closed and it still didn't stay that way. Points for me.

After all the holiday decor was packed away and my apartment was back to normal, I went upstairs and still charged with the cleaning bug dusted everything, including that lamp in my stair well. For those of you who don't know, this particular lamp hangs about 30 feet in the air and I had to lean over my railing in the office with a duster to reach it. I ended up just banging it and the dust fell off. I didn't want to over extend my reach, I could have go overboard, which would have ruined this entire story. Ru-ined!

Then it was time to get ready and meet up with Jenice. You all know how that story went by the pics from my closet. Yay! On my way back to town, I decided that I was super thirsty and stopped by Zaxby's for a large sweet tea. Boy howdy do they mean large. I couldn't finish the stupid thing. It just kept going and going.

Later that afternoon I had a randevu with my folks to get my little brother since his car was having repairs done. Then we loaded up the three pounds of crab legs that I had bought, the bottle of champagne, and our outfits and we were out the door to Sarah's.

When we got there, Ben was already cooking two pounds of crab legs. Eek. So then he added one pound of mine and we decided the save the rest for later. That meal was to die for, which is great because I thought that I was. I did take half a anti histamine right before dinner, but there was no real noticeable reaction that I could tell.

Then we sat and waited, and waited, and waited. The cab driver never showed up. So, since Kevin hadn't been drinking yet, he drove us downtown in my car. Off to the masquerade party we were. We couldn't get the guys to wear the masks, but Sarah and I did. It was a great night, and apparently we had picked a great spot to stay because some friends of ours had shown up saying that everywhere else was popping at the seams. We ran into Ohara, Justin, Jordan, and some of Ben's friends, which I can't remember their names. Sorry.

When it was getting close to midnight, Ben had bet Kevin ten bucks to go find some chick to kiss him right before midnight. In wanting to help him succeed, I was on the search as well. But, he didn't seem to be too into the idea. Finally, when the countdown began, we raised our glasses, sang Auld Lang Syne and pissed Ben off. Why is that? Because I stole the first kiss of the new year from Sarah before he could. Muahahaha.

The cab drive home, there are no words. The most redneck, redneck individuals we had ever met climbed in after us and rode the entire time to all stops talking and smoking. The big deal was that they were staying at a hotel downtown. So, why were they in the cab? The woman's ashes almost lit Kev's coat on fire. Eek. When we got back to Sarah's, the cab driver pulled a switch on us. I had handed Kevin the money for our portion of the ride and had gone inside. Well, ten minutes later, Kevin came in. I asked what took so long, he said that the driver had changed her price to $15 per person rather than the 10 she had quoted us earlier. TO make sure that she got the money, she had a "bouncer" in the front seat. Shaddy indeed. Needless to say, they didn't tip her.

The next day, I woke at 7, but others didn't begin stirring until around 10. Kevin was the last to get up. I ran back the room he was staying in, saw that he had locked the door. So, I went into the kitchen for a utensil to pick the lock and scare him. Well, he must have heard me because the second I got the door open, he smacked me in the head with a pillow. Arggggg.

We ended our morning with our party at Five Star Day. Great place, but it is always packed. I am glad that I got to spend the new year with some of the most important people in my life. Looks like 2011 is off to a great start!

Chance Reunion

This Christmas was chaotic, as is any with my family, but I did get one huge surprise out of it. Christmas Eve we always spend at my maternal grandmothers, but this year, we met during the day. My cousin is a police office and unfortunately since he is the rookie, had to work. So, we met to accommodate his schedule. Shortly after we had cleaned the dishes and unwrapped the presents, it was time for me to head out. I had promised my best friend from high school that I would come and visit her.

It had been approximately four to five years since I last saw her and felt terrible about that. There are very few memories of my childhood that don't contain her. I mean really, you all have heard the tales of Mere and Darcy. We were riots if I say so myself. Anywho. As I called her to let her know that I was on my way, and to prepare, she informed me that another crazy cat would be joining us. Jazzy. I had not seen Jazzy since graduation, and that is no lie. I was so excited.

When I got there, I hugged her parents' necks and we all sat and chatted while waiting on Jazzy's arrival. Then, Darcy informed me that she had had surgery where they had to deflate her lung. She then preceded to tell me that it was no big deal. Um, any procedure where it is necessary that the deflate the thing that makes you breathe and stay alive, is a big deal. Geez.

Moving on. When Jazzy got there, we tried to think of where we wanted to go or what we wanted to do. I don't know who thought of it first, but it was genius. We knew, just knew, that another friend of ours was in town for the holidays and we had to see her. So, we plied in Darcy's car and off we went to find Julie. As we pulled into her driveway, we were all so worried about whether or not she would (1) remember us and (2) want to see us. The two nut heads that I was with started getting all nervous, but I made them stand on the porch with me as we rung the door bell. Her father answered the door and immediately brought us into the living room. "I remember your faces very well, but the names, now you are going to have to help me on that one."

One by one, we reintroduced ourselves. He couldn't believe it. Then down the stairs came Julie's little sister, Michelle, who hung out with us a lot as no one in her year was cool. (Ha, that's right, we were considered the cool kids). Then Julie's older brother came in, Tyler, he hugged Darcy and Jazzy, and then tried to shake my hand and introduced himself. "Dude, we use to work in the office together," were my thoughts, but before I could say anything, he remembered. "Mere!"

Finally, we heard more steps coming down the stairs, JULIE!!! As she came in the room, she had to do a double take. She later told us that she almost started to cry, that she couldn't believe it. It was like magic was in the air. We later found out that she was leaving the next morning to fly back to Utah. Lucky.

We then decided to head over to our old stomping grounds and had dinner in Fayetteville, Applebees to be exact. We just started talking about the past and reminiscing about all the crazy stuff we did in school, all the stupid boys that we dated. We talked about what we are doing now and how much things have changed since we left. It was a terrific night. We laughed harder than I think anyone of us had in a while. We remembered things that I haven't thought about since I left that school.

When I got home that night, I told my mother that I had an amazing time, truly amazing. I forgot about what great times there were in high school. It seems that we tend to only focus on the bad, and forget the good. Well, that night, I got a big dose of it!

As we were saying our goodbyes, we realized that we all have known one another for close to fifteen years, and the fact that we hadn't seen one another for close to seven. Unacceptable ladies! This shall not happen again. We were talking at dinner about planning a skiing trip out to see Julie after the new year. Sign me up!

Mere-y Christmas...Party

I have to say that every year after the party I proclaim to the world  with fists of rage, that it was so stressful that I am never doing it again. However, this year, I made no such promise. This year seemed so different. No stress, no running out of time. Everything worked out and ran as smooth as glass.

It started with Sarah N. getting into town the same time that I got off work. Although she did have one detour before getting to my house... she brought be a peppermint milkshake. Awww. After devouring my treat (remember I am addicted to mint) we headed off to the store. It only took us an hour to get everything and while we were there, we even order our dinner for the night.

Then we headed over to get our pizza where I was complimented on my hat (I like wearing hats and brooches. Yes, I know that I am old). Then we got home, unloaded the car, put away the groceries, and then nestled on the couch with pizza and beer for a little movie.

The next morning, we woke up, went and got breakfast (somebody had to have a biscuit and couldn't wait on me to make pancakes). We watched yet another movie while we finished our meal, then watched another movie while we started to cook. The time literally flew by and it didn't feel rushed at all. It was all completely calm.

When Sarah went up to get ready, I did some last minute things. Let roomba out, hung a painting that Sarah S. and I had done earlier that week, and some general straightening up. After I put roomba away, I went over to fix the lights under the Christmas tree because he had gotten caught on them a little. I reached down and immediately felt like a hot knife had gone through my finger. I screamed. "What happened?!?" I heard come from the top of the stairs. Not quiet sure myself, I looked around and saw little pieces of broken glass on the floor and one empty like socket on the string of lights. 1 + 1= ouch! The damn light had electrocuted me. So, I carefully reached down and rearranged the lights, went upstairs and per Sarah request, ran my finger under some cold water.

While I was getting ready, and having previously unlocked the door in anticipation of such, Dustin arrived. The first words out of his mouth were, "Whoa, this is sick!" He couldn't get over how large the place was. Apparently they look small on the outside. The rest of the night he was trying to talk Lindsay into moving there. Yay, new neighbors!

Anyway, while he was finishing up his cooking, Mel and Nick came, then Lindsay arrived. The party was getting started. When we had completed putting together the spread, it was hilarious. We were all just standing there starring at the table. We could not believe how gorgeous it looked. Dustin, Sarah and I were just taking pictures to remember what it looked like before we dove in.

Shortly thereafter, my baby brother and his best friend, Hudson, arrived. I have known him since he was just a little guy in elementary school with Kev. Now he is so freaking tall. A few minutes later, O'Hara showed up, another LHS survivor and good friend to Kev. She thinks that it is hilarious that I make my own laundry detergent and has stated that the next time I do it, she wants to help so that she can learn.
About an hour later, Rickey and Britt showed up. It was funny watching Rickey try to work my stove. He had never cooked with gas before, and Dustin had to show him how. I laughed pretty hard, not gonna lie. Although, I was laughing a lot that night, most particularly because Dustin decided to be festive. When I say festive, I mean that Dustin was making shot after shot of peppermint schnapps and Bailey's. No one else would take shots with him, so I obliged.

Needless to say, by the time 10:30 rolled around I was a bit tipsy, okay, I was drunk. I was trying to help clean up the food so that we all could go down town. I bent down to look in the cabinet for some tubberware for the leftovers, and Dustin bumped me. Yep, I was on the floor. So I stayed there. I sat by the fridge and loaded the items into that were handed to me. It worked out pretty well.

Then we grabbed our coats and jumped into the cars. We had a great time. There was some dancing at Firehouse, some sitting at Allgood, and I sat a lot at 8Es. Mostly because, and I am not proud to admit it, but I sat on a stool and fell right off. I remember it happening too, in slow motion. I recall thinking, "why is the floor getting closer?" (I'm still laughing at myself.)

Anyway, dear, dear Sarah was our fearless leader that night and got us home safely. No one, and I mean no one, got up before 2:00 that day. Sarah was a great mom and even tucked Dustin onto the couch with a blanket. I was proud of myself too. I made it up to my bed room without hurting myself. That's 20 stairs folks, 20!

Too cute, so I had to add it
It was a great weekend, and I can't wait to do it again. New Year's anyone!

Sarah N. requested that I post about what all we cooked. So, I did on my other blog.

Pre Christmas Mania

During the past week, I had been unable to finish start my Christmas shopping. It was funny, I managed to order things for my boss and co-worker for Christmas seeing as they didn't have an online account, had then delivered and/or picked them up for them, but had done any shopping myself.

Finally, having finished a rather large/depressing undertaking at work (reviewing medical records never makes anyone happy) I had decided that this Saturday was the designated day. I decided to make the most of it. I went done to the same town that my sister lives in to do the shopping and to visit my grandmother (the one who just went under hospice care).

Sarah N. was generous enough to agree to meet me and help me with getting it all done. She kept me clam and collected as crowds freak me out. It was particularly crowded that day too! She even had to stand in a parking spot for me while I hurried as fast as I could to get there before someone tried to run her over.

After only a few hours, we had finished. We visit four stores and managed to get a little late lunch/early dinner as well. I am really appreciative for her help. Now I just have to wrap it all.

Following my departure from the outlet, I headed over to the nursing home. It is in some unknown vortex or something. It took me forever to find it and it was only 2 miles from my sister's house! Geez louise, I tell you. I visited with her for an hour. I hadn't seen her in what seems like forever. Trying to think back, I am afraid to say that it was probably last Christmas. She hasn't been feeling well for a long time and therefore hasn't been at many family functions.

After my visit, I then headed over to my BIL's aunt's house. Hung out there for about an hour. They had done their Christmas swap there and the kids were all excited with their new toys. My oldest nephew for instance was thrilled with his first, official ZuZu pet, rather than the kids meal toys.

Finally, it was time to head home. Boy was I tired. I got home and went straight to bed. When I woke this morning. I was ready to meet Sarah S. for brunch.

We ended up at Last Resort. Yum! And it was reasonably priced. I got stuffed french toast with bananas (which we all know is one of my favs). Expecting to get two little slices of battered toast, they brought out this leaning tower a la amazing goodness! I couldn't finish it and even Sarah had a crack at it.

We exchanged our gifts today since I will not see her until after Christmas. Unfortunately she has to work Christmas night. Stupid hospital!

Anyways. Now its time for me to wrap my gifts, clean my loft as it has been neglected over the last week, head over to the gym, and rest it up for tomorrow, and of course, catch up on my posts. (Yes Sarah N., I will blog about the Holiday Party. Be patient my friend.)

Never ending car ride

Well, its the day after the Day of Thanks. I started this morning off at 6:30. No, not to hit the stores to beat the other crazy people for deals and steals, but to pack and begin the infamous road trip. That's right, even as I type this, I am sitting in the back of my car, as there was a mutiny. Not that I really care, I've gotten lots of sleep, and I did drive the first leg into South Carolina, but I haven't gotten behind the wheel since then.

As of now, it is approximately 7:00 PM and we are about 20 miles out of our final destination. Geez.

Another down side of being skinny...er, is that I have found that I cannot sit in the car as well nor for as long as I use to. My bum is officically flat and numb.

I just hope that we get there soon. I cannot wait to tour the city of Washington, DC with my brothers. We may even try to make it over the Ford's Theater. Super excited.

But, right now, I just want to get out of this car!

Absolutely Amazing

I was visiting my folks this weekend and to celebrate the monkey butt's birthday (21st woot!), and somehow allowed my brothers to talk me into going to DC with them to Annual SAR Potomac Gala. So, in a few weeks time, it will be me and my two brothers road tripping to DC. That spells only one thing...t-r-o-u-b-l-e. We always have a great time together, and usually leave quite a wake too! I'm thoroughly excited though. I haven't been to DC in probably 2 years, and this will be my second vaca this year. Woot again.

While we were talking about what all we needed to do to prepare for this, Kev and I dove into my old room and dug out some of my old formals. Yeah, none of them fit, some, it was so obvious that there was no point in even thinking about it, unless you just really needed a laugh. Finally, I found one that I though might fit. I pulled it out and threw it on. Believe it or not, it was still too big. This dress I have not worn since I was a senior in high school. You read that right...HIGH SCHOOL. I have to get it taken in an inch on both sides. My parents freaked when they saw it on me. Although happy for the fact that I have lost so much weight and have completely turned my life around... they begged me throughout dinner to go into maintenance mode.

I explained to them that I have a few more pounds to shed and some muscles to gain, but that the journey was soon over. My mother went into overly protective mode this weekend as well. In fact, before she would let me leave to come home, she made me eat something, afraid that I would get sick on the way.

Mama, I love you, but stop "smothering." I am being careful, and I know that I am not eating as much as I should and I am prepared to purchase some protein powder to make shakes to insure that I make up for it.

Now, do not think that I have become anorexic, because I haven't. I just physically cannot eat as much as I use to, and I don't think to eat because I am never hungry. Strange huh?

Weekend Circus

First blog in a while, I know, but it took a while to recuperate from these last few weeks of craziness. This whole moving thing has got be the worst thing that I have ever personally done to myself. Why, oh why didn't I hire a moving service? All right, we already know the answer to that question...I'm cheap.

Friday, I took off work and woke at the crack of dawn, actually, it was an hour before dawn to head over and finally get my keys. I patiently waited in the parking lot for the agent to emerge from his unit to walk his dog. Finally, I had the keys in my hand and I was already making trip, after trip, after trip, carrying the assorted belongings of mine that I had compacted into my tiny car. After unloading everything, I then spent the next hour putting things away and single handedly putting my bed together. Only a few mishaps, but within 30 minutes I had a fully assembled fourposter.

Doesn't that look delicious?
That day, I must have made more than thirty trips, back and forth. Sarah S. accompanied me for the last 10. During that time, one of my neighbors poked her head in and asked me if I had any special diet restrictions. When I replied "No," she shouted out, "Thank God!" She then further explained to me that she had a loaf of bread in her machine and was going to half it with me because she and her husband would never be able to devour it in time.

Pleased that I had made a friend so quickly, I thanked her profusely when she carted the package over. It was so cute lying on parchment paper and boy was it delicious.

Finally calling it quits around 9, I prepared myself for the next day's adventure.

This load almost toppled out of the truck
That morning, I again packed my car to max capacity and patiently awaited the arrival of Jacki (with her truck) and Sarah and Ben. Once all parties were assembled, we grabbed hold of my large furniture items and loaded them up. Most of the time it consisted of Ben on one side with Sarah and I holding the other and Jacki directing us. I was most pleased when we had finished, particularly with the washer and dryer, just a few minutes after noon.

Then, it was time for Sarah N. and I to attack the mess that was lurking in my new place. You literally couldn't take more than two steps together. Close to 6, we had successfully unpacked all the boxes, made my bed, attacked the bathroom, and arranged a living room. What a piece of mind.

I am still in the process of arranging things, and waiting for my folks to come and get the wicker furniture that is currently pushed into one corner. Once that is done, I will finally feel at home.

I must say that it is amazing to come home everyday to the sound of a roaring river and enter my enormous loft. I absolutely love it and cannot believe my luck...still.

This is my actual view

Last night, after devouring out amazing creation, Sarah S. and I were finishing up the rock bath mat when my neighbor brought me over some molten chocolate brownies. I love her! Just keep it coming Mel, just keep it coming. (Note: this is not the same Mel that I blog about frequently. Although, I do love them both.)

See Bell. See Bell run. Run Bell, run.

This past Saturday was the Annual SPACE Race. My mom and dad came up especially for this event, and it was the first time that they had ever spent the night or day here. It was awesome having them up. When they came, they brought with them a running buddy for me, Bell.

She really is the best dog. Originally belonging to my older brother, she became too much for him to handle plus his other dog. So, my parents gladly adopted her. She is a Great Pyrenees lab mix and is a fierce protector of her "herd" a/k/a my family. When I had my wisdom teeth out, she stood by my side the entire time. Particularly since my grandmother was trying to give me rice krispy treats. "Um, I just had surgery in my mouth, I might as well chew on some glass."

Anyway, I was super excited about being able to take Bell with me. I was a little worried about doing my first race along, but she made it all better. She only tripped me once when she saw a squirrel while going through a neighborhood, and then the last quarter mile, her tongue was hanging out and I had to tug on her more than I had expected. But, she and I made it, and in record time. Usually my run to Ramsey and back takes an hour, and its roughly 4 miles. This was a 5k that we did, which is around 3 miles. We cut approximately 30 minutes off my time!

My dad said that they guy who won ran it in 17:53. His first response was, "is the shuttle running this morning?" I couldn't believe it. What was really interesting was that after I had cooled down a bit and was chugging water, I saw a familiar face who had just finished. Patrick, an old friend of Josh's from college. I always thought that he was in good shape and he came and left there on a bike. So, I was surprised that I finished before him. I was even more surprised that he remembered my name.

Later that morning, after a trip home and hosing myself off, we headed over the Gardens for a little picnic like we use to have when I was a kid. My mom loved the English Garden and could not get enough of it. I also showed them where I would be moving to, and believe it or not, I think that my mom is more excited than I am for me.

Now, if only it were time for me to move. I'm ready.

Another Mere-a-thon of a weekend

Friday seemed like a terribly long day. I drove 90 miles after work to my grandmother's house for a birthday celebration of Adam's 30th. That's right, my big brother has finally reached 30, muahahaha. Although I did tell him to not sweat it, its no biggy. 30 is the new...uh.... 15? Which, I have to admit, is exactly how he acts when he gets around his best friend and our little brother.

We were there for four hours, but the time just flew right by. We were all reminiscing back on the days when we were kids and how we use to, and still do, torture each other. How Adam use to take everything apart when he was still in diapers once he had discovered the screw driver. Needless to say, he caused our parents much aggravation over the years. Always sticking his fingers in something (like the drum set) and climbing things he had no business climbing (like trying to cross our five acre land by climbing from tree to tree).

The next morning, Mama, Adam and I ventured over to Wally for some breakfast items. It was just like old times again. I was bounded up and down the isles while Adam was searching for his humus and chips. I found a choco taco and freaked. I haven't had one in months, months! I grabbed it and shoved it in Adam's face. "You know you want one. Num, num, num." "Mom, she's touching me!"

When we got back we cooked a marvelous meal and then it was time for Eric (Adam's bff and my surrogate brother) and Lindsay's baby shower.

Lindsay and I went to high school together and we have all known one another for the longest time. When we were kids, Eric, Adam, Chad (Eric's little brother) and myself would all play fort. When it was raining, we would still play, inside. I would find some of the best hiding places. Once I climbed on top of the refrigerator and patiently waited for my next victim to round the corner. As soon as Adam's arm was in view, "Bang!" He hit the ground from sheer shock and scrampered away as fast as he could. Then I sat and waited for the next unsuspecting enemy. While I was readjusting myself on the fridge, Eric came walking around the opposite corner, after hearing Adam's fall. He cautiously looked around, then looked up and saw me grinning from ear to ear. "That is an awesome hiding place!"

Ah, the good old days. Now, its hard to believe that he and his wife are starting their own family. Lindsay looked beautiful. Every pregnant woman's envy. She was wearing heels and had no swollen ankles. How is that possible? It was funny though, they had the UGA game on and I was dressed in support, and it wasn't until the game was over that people really started paying attention to the party. In fact, she didn't open presents until after the game.

Then it was time to journey back to my little world here. I love my family, I do, but they wear me flat out. I got home, threw my luggage on the floor, made dinner, downed a powerade and laid on the sofa watching a movie. I woke up at 6 am and couldn't believe that I had just passed out. Still tired, I fell back to sleep. Finally, getting up at 8, I made breakfast and cleaned up my mess from the night before. I spent most of the day just relaxing and trying to stave off dehydration. I have no idea why I get so dehydrated every weekend, but some how I do.

In spite of this, I did go to spin class. After all, I had to work off that bday cake and baby shower cake. Not mention the sausage biscuit I had for breakfast while at my mom's, oh and the choco taco. Although it was well worth it. After the gym I headed over to Plato's and struck out. Then I went to TJ Maxx, and again no luck. I will just have to hold onto my allotted clothes budget and roll it over to next month. Perhaps I will have more luck. I just really need some fall and winter clothes before the weather changes and I freeze to death. After all, I have a lot less insulation now.

Finally, to end the day I went to dinner, solo, and confused the entire staff there. Why is it so confounding that a woman would chose to eat alone. Oh well. And then I headed over to Kroger to purchase the necessary items to make my most famous mere-tastic lasagna for Andrea. When I took it out of the oven last night, I almost, for a minute, considered not giving it to her. It smelled so good. It was great to be cooking again though. I really need to start up again. I miss it, and I miss experimenting. I will also see great stuff in magazines and fold the page down, but I never make it because I always thought that it would be no fun to cook for one. Well, time to change that.

The lost chronicle

It was brought to my attention earlier today that I had yet to blog about the third and final chapter of the Labor Day Weekend. My most sincere and heartfelt apologies.

On the actual day of this most festive of holidays, my company and I awoke, and journied the great distance to Chick-fil-A, where apparently the rest of the world had the same idea. Not wanting to wait in the wrap-around line, we enjoyed our biscuits and tots outdoors and counted the number of cars that gave up in the quest. Then it was time to finish our feature presentation. The girls, Britt and Sarah N., were coming up with some of the most interesting ways of determining who the real ice picker was. I shall not go into detail, but it was most amusing.

I was voted to have the quote of the day. A most honorable of honors. What was the quote you say? Oh, well... let me see if I can down this a bit for public viewing. Ahemmm (clearing throat) "I don't know how minks *#$^, but I know that they make great coats!" (Can you picture my big cheesy grin here? Can you?)

After the scrolling of the credits and seeing the confused, shocked faces, of my comrades, I declared that it was time for the main event. I ran back to my room where I gathered my belongings and hurriedly ran back to the front of the house. What did I see? Sarah still curled up on the couch while Rickey did a swan dive onto the air mattress. "This will never do," I thought to myself. First things first. I ran into the spare room, smacked Rickey with this flip flop. When I received little to no response, I moved on to more aggressive measures. I reached down, and in all my glory, I pulled the plug and a burst of air came rushing out. At the sound, Britt then came bounding in and did her own dive onto the mattress and causing a wave of air from below and thus sending her husband to the ground.

Dusting my hands off and a pat on the back for a job well done, it was on to the next. This chore proved much more taxing. Bound and determined not to move, I grabbed Sarah's ankles and began to pull. She took hold of the couch and it became a tug-o-war. Being quick on my feet, the winning strategy soon formed in my mind. As I pulled harder and managed to get her further away from the back of the furniture, I simply let go. She came crashing to the floor. Victory was mine!

When we made it to the pool, after much prodding of the slow pokes, chicken fights became the game of choice. I soon learned that neither Sarah nor myself make proper anchors and therefore lost, each and every time.

Our most triumphant feat of the day. The rescue and resurrection of our mascot, Onomatopoeia or Omi for short. Lin saw him down in the depths of the pool, lifeless. Seeing as I was the only one who did not require corrective lenses and had no difficultly opening my pretty blues (they're actually grey) under water, I dove. Several attempts to grasp hold and finally to the surface he came. After much coaching, we determined that there was nothing that could be done. Fetching an empty water bottle, we placed him inside and said a few words.

While posing for some pictures some time after, I decided that we needed a picture of our late friend. I swam over to courier him to the other side. While in transit Lin noticed some slight movement. Ecstatic, we all rushed over to the side of the pool and released him. There, for all to see, he began to move and twitch. Amazed by this Britt scooped him up and placed him in a neighboring potted plant. Soon afterwards he received a visitor, perhaps an older relative.

All in all, it was a great day full of much excitement and joy. And thus ends the epic.

Circus of a Weekend.

This weekend I went to the Circus with Frannie, Panya and the boys. But the real circus hardly took place under the tent.

I got there late on Friday, and sis was still out working her tubberware circuit. I pull into the neighborhood and there are kids everywhere. EVERYWHERE! They live in a mixed culture neighborhood but the one thing that seems to be consistent with all the cultures is that they don't let their kids out to play until after 7.

I pulled up in front of the house and my nephews and another kid from the neighborhood are "attacking" the bubbles coming out of the bubble machine. Too cute. I walk over to see my youngest nephew who was being held by his father, looked at him and said, "Hey there big boy!" He immediately took his hands, smacked them to his face, jerked his head back and began wailing. Awesome. Every time that weekend that I tried to say hi or look, or would even be in his vicinity, I would get the same reaction. I'm not hurt too much though, he is generally a fussy baby. If the wind blows a certain way, its the end of the world until he gets distracted by something else.

Later that night after Frannie and Panya had put the kids to sleep, they showed me the cutest and funniest thing. The Annoying Orange. My favorite episode quote: "Hey pear, quit being such an apple." Hahaha.

Anyway, the next morning I was awoken by the sweet celestial sounds of my nephews. Even in my sleep I offend the baby. Oh well. We had breakfast and then it was time for the Circus. They had been waiting for it forever. Apparently, Jai had been asking literally every week about it since February. We got there early for the pre show, but that didn't really interest Jai. He was here for the real deal, now where are the elephants?!?

Shortly thereafter, Jai got his wish. Three elephants came out and did their tricks on the small little steps, and I tell you what, they are a lot faster than they look.

My favorite part was when they put a motor cycle on a tight rope. Crazy! There was this guy driving it and two women hanging from the motor cycle on a trapeze bar. Who does that? It was so scary, and they did all this without safety nets. Then there were the women that spun high in the air by nothing but their hair. Eek! It made my head hurt just looking at it.

After the circus it was time for some lunch. Five Guys anyone. Yum. Then later that day, I went along for some shopping at the grocery store where Frannie dominated the coupons. She saved 30.00 on her total bill using coupons and her plus card. I need lessons.

I was suppose to head home after that, but Frannie tempted me with wine and home made spaghetti. "Okay, I guess that I can just leave early in the morning before they show the house." So, I stayed for dinner, and it was so awesome. It was also funny watching the prep. Frannie has this thing about not touching raw meat, and since she was out of gloves, she had to get creative.

Anyway, they went up to put the kids to sleep, and when they came back, I was passed out on the couch. Ooops. I don't know how they do it. I was so worn out from the day's activities. I finally carted myself up the stairs and to bed. The next morning I got my wake up call and learned that little Jai was very sad to see Aunt Mewry go. He had in the two days I was there, gotten use to it. Awwww... what is this misty liquid stuff in my eye?

Well, after breakfast, I got on the road and off I sped to make it home in time. I ran into the house, didn't even unpack the car, and did a super fast clean up job for the people coming to view the house. With 15 to spare, I sat down and treated myself to some string cheese. I waited, and waited, and by the time 3 rolled around, I pretty much figured that they weren't coming.

Then I called Sarah S. and begged her for a run. She didn't want to go due to the heat, but she folded. She got there, and we were off. I made it to the EPA when my stomach started hurting like all get out. "What is wrong with me?" Sarah noticed my slower pace and asked what was wrong. We took it slow to the Ramsey Center, snuck in the back and I went to the restroom and got some water. She asked me if I was going to take my picture and I told her that I felt as though I hadn't earned this one.

Feeling much better after some water, we headed off. I got to the first hill and ran the whole way up. After reaching the top, my stomach starting hurting again and then my head. I couldn't even listen to my ipod. Too much. When I reached the EPA, I walked/lightly jogged the way home. When I reached my neighborhood and was only one block away, I almost passed out. In fact, Sarah had already made it to my house and turned around to find me. When I got inside, I collapsed and she went to the gas station and brought me back a 32oz powerade. I downed it and still felt like crap.

Today, I still feel terrible. I have not been this dehydrated since last year when I had to drink that nasty stuff for some chest scans. They forgot to tell me that I needed to double my water. Before that, I can't remember the last time that I have felt this bad. Needless to say, I'm taking it easy today, although I did do some push ups this morning, but that may be the extent of my working out. Ugh.

Part Dos

The following morning after our adventures was a difficult one to get started. I tried, and tried, and tried some more to get Sarah to agree to come to spin with me. Nope, didn't happen. So we made pancakes, and she started watching Watchmen because she had not seen it in forever, and probably didn't pay attention either. I got ready, and was out the door. As I was pulling out of the driveway to leave, there was this woman just standing behind my car.

"Um, can I help you?"

"I was looking for places for my daughter to rent."

Kind of getting the sense that she wanted me to give her a tour, I just told her to call the numbers listed on lawn signs and speak with them about setting up a time.

So rude, she just stood there and then asked how much I paid in rent. Look lady, if you are wanting to talk business, call the landlord not me.

Grr...

When she finally left, I drove off and was so close to being late that it wasn't even funny. I hate being late, hate it!

I got in there and there was one other person. This should be interesting. We talked and got warmed up, and then it was time to start the class. Rich informed us that since it was just the three of us that class was going to be shorter, but more intense. Awesome, can't wait.

We were doing pretty good, except that when there are only two of you, and he is screaming, you can pretty much bet that its you that is screwing up. At one point, when we were gearing up for a "mountain climb" he asked if we had enough resistance. So, I turned the knob up, and then he yelled, "You still don't have enough!" Good lord, so I cranked it up some more where I could literally not move the wheel unless I was standing. One word... OUCH.

I came back and got ready for the cook out portion of the evening. While I was getting ready, Sarah had moved on to Basic Instinct. When it was time to leave, she said the impossible. "We don't have to get there right at 5:30."

What, who are you. Since when is Sarah ever laid back. Confused at what had just happened, I reached over and turned the tv off and gather our contributions to the party.

When we got there, it was already a packed house. I went out to check on Jamie, our gracious host, and see what he is up to. Trying to build a fire apparently. I explained to him that first you must build the pyramid, then light, and once the coals all turn grey, you spread them out. He just decided that he would rather douse them in lighter fluid. As I bent down to light it for him, my life flashed before my eyes and I'm pretty sure that I got my eyebrows. Scary.

Then I kicked him away and took over. Someone was going to get hurt. Then someone made the comment that they loved the fact that there was five guys out there and it was the one girl who actually knew how to build a fire. Mama didn't raise no fool!

Once the food was ready, it was time to eat, play games and have fun. Sarah and I lost at one game, then it was flip cup time and my team and I dominated. That's right, woot! Sarah kept pointing out that I was putting too much in my cup. My thoughts were, "Why are you complaining, you are one the other team. If anything, this is an advantage for you."

As the party started to wind down, Rickey and I got the great idea that we needed to head home and make rice krispy treats. Which we did. They were awesome. We made two batches. One for Britt and Sarah, and the other for Rickey and I. Rickey and I are a little more daring than the other two and had chocolate chips and reeses peanut butter chips in them. My mouth is watering just thinking of it again.
Then we all tried to finish the movie, but Rickey fell asleep, then I did, and then I remember Britt waking me up and we all decided that we would finish it in the morning.

Off to sleep everyone.

And thus ends part deux.

Laborious Weekend Part 1

Labor Day Weekend. The weekend where we are suppose to set aside all our laborious of labors and enjoy life, that and pack away all your white shoes.

Friday at work seemed to fly by, or at least I think it did. I can't remember honestly. I do recall getting out of work early since the Atlanta Office closed early. Woo. I got home to find Sarah N. waiting for me in her car. I pulled into the driveway and helped her unload her massive suitcase. You moving in?!? After that back breaking laborious activity, it was time for sushi with Mel.

We got there, ate and chatted and planned out our most excellent tailgate for the following morning. With excitement and such enthusiasm for the adventures that awaited us, we headed off to get the necessary items. Nothing a superstore can't fix.

When we first walked in, I saw the most awesome chair I had ever seen in my entire life. It was so tempting to purchase, although the hefty price tag was a big deterrent.

After purchasing our incredibly cheap beer, water (playing it safe) and our mega bags of chips, it was time to head home and load the car with the non perishables. Card table, check; chairs, check; food, whisk, bowels, plates, napkins, utensils, check. The following morning I loaded up the TV (that's right, I said TV) the super nintendo, the games, and we were off.

We got there in record time and found a great spot right next to Nick's truck. We began to unload the contents of Mean Green (that is the name of my car, and I am using it to peeve some people off here). After placing everything out, Sarah and I made a discovery. We had forgotten the beer! Our glorious 30 pack was still sitting in the fridge waiting for its chance at pong. How could we?

We rushed back over and collected it and also realized that we forgot the butter for the pancakes. Yikes, already off to a good start. Once all was made right again, we cooked up the pancakes, sausages, and began a little gaming. We waited, and we waited, and we waited some more for people to show up for this must see event.

Finally, Lindsay showed up, and without Dustin. Where is Dustin? He was suppose to bring the table for the pong. Oh well, we will have to make due. (P.S. Dustin, did you really not come because you were sleepy? You had a ticket and everything. Really? I'll forgive you, this time.)

The game was a great one, although, Nick preferred to watch the game and listen to the radio comments instead. So, there was about a five second delay. We would here "touchdown" and sit there with baited breath waiting to see it actually happen. Sarah was not amused.

After a short nap, realizing that I had a terrific sunburn and a short game of pong, it was time to pack up.

After a slightly longer, short nap, it was time to head out for the night portion of this fabulous day. It was so crowded down town. We ran into some familiar faces at Firehouse. Then I got a text and it was time to meet up with an old face. Billy! He was in town visiting some other friends of his, so we scurried down the street to see his little self. Of course he had to be hiding out in the absolutely packed bar. We tried waving at him, no good. Finally I squeezed by the herds of people and walked right up to him. Believe it or not, he did not recognize me. I know that it has been a while, but yeah. "When did you, what did you?"

After getting tired of being trampled, we headed over to 8Es. Wooo. There was a line. I had never seen a line there before. It was nuts. They wouldn't even let people pass if they were wanting to use the restroom. You could hang out on the patio and order from the bar there, but that's no fun. So let me in!

We ended the night on a high note. Or rather Journey did. Then it was time to head back home in prep for our next event.

Another ever so busy weekend, with me!

That's right, I spent this entire weekend with me. Just me, and it flew by like crazy.

It started on Friday. I had called Mel to see if she wanted to join me for a little sushi. She did, but couldn't'. A friend was coming over to fix her ice maker. Oh well, sushi for one.

I have to say, it was kind of liberating sitting there by myself. I got out my books, studied and listened to the group next to me. They were all speaking Chinese and it fascinated me. Also, the toddler that was with them kept sneaking over to my table. Just to stare at me. "Why, hello there little guy." His mom would constantly apologize. "Don't worry, he isn't bothering me," I said each time that she would try to herd him back over.

Then, after finishing my food and laughing hysterically (inside that is. I know that I am eating alone, but I don't want to seem crazy too!) because "Happy Days" came on. Really, a Japanese place is playing American 1960's television theme music. It was time to head over to Jittery Joes. I had a test and a paper due that weekend, so I had to be prepared for it. I sat there for two hours, studying, drinking multiple cups of tea, and tried to get a start on my paper. Finally, it was time to head home.

It was time to watch my latest from Netflix. Woo, four hours of fun. Then I placed it back in the mailbox and headed off to sleep. Why so early? Well, it wasn't really that early, it was at least 12, but I had my adventure in the morning.

I got up at 8:00, had breakfast, cleaned, did the dishes and waited for my stomach to settle. I got my gear, phone, keys, and out I went. I started walking towards the front of the subdivision and then hit the gas. I was running like the wind, okay, may be not, but I was doing pretty good. As I was coming across the last part of the fire station a car pulled out in front of me and rolled down their window. "What is this joker doing?"

It was David. He just looked at me and said, "You look like Mere." "And you look like David." He asked how I was doing and stated that I must live nearby to be out running. Oh what he didn't know. He told me that he was on his way to see another friend of our's. Courtney is a really special lady and a real trooper. I mean that. Back in December of '07, she was stabbed multiple times while on duty at a local grocery store. The man took off and the police were chasing him down and eventually caught him.

Luckily, one of the shoppers nearby was a nurse. She started grabbing paper towels and anything she could off the shelves to help stop the bleeding. In fact, by the time the stabbing was over, she had almost already bled out.

When they got her to the hospital, she went comatose and was for a week if not more. Her recovery was a long one, but its amazing that she is even here today. She really is a huge role model for me. David told me that she has gone back to school to get her masters and is looking forward to coming back to work. Amazing!!

Anyway, after that little stop and chat, I kept on going. There were so many people out that morning. I finally came to my normal stopping point, East Campus, but this time, I kept going. I crossed the RR tracks and started making my way up the hill towards the stadium. I ran into a few detours here and there. Because football season is upon us, they were all in a tizzy to get the facility ready, pouring new sidewalks, which meant that I had to dodge traffic to cross the street. All was well.

I cannot describe to you how amazing I felt when I reached an old spot. So many times I had driven there to drop off Matt for school on my way to work. Now, I was running past it and my heart was about to jump out of my chest. Then I saw sitting on top of the hill, the Georgian. One of my favorite buildings here. I had tried once to move into it, but the rent is simply too high.

I made it up the hills of downtown and then I ran straight to my office. Never had coming to work felt so good.

What do you do when you accomplish something like this? You call your mother of course! As I was talking to her and drinking water, I kept on looking down and finding pennies. I made three cents off that trip. The real significance, to me at least, is that it made me feel like someone else was telling me that they were proud.

When we were kids, and even into her adulthood, my sister, Tara, would always hand someone a penny when they looked upset. "A penny for your lots." To this day, people leave hundreds, and I mean hundreds, of pennies on her grave. So, every time that I find one, its like a little "hello."

Well, then it was time to head back. I then realized that I shouldn't have called my mother until I got home because she then preceded to call me almost at every mile. "Where are you now? Call me when you get home."

Each time I stopped to answer her call, my stomach would cramp up. And she called about five times. Once, it was my dad. "Where are you?" "About fifteen from home, I promise, I will call when I get there."

What should happen when I did finally reach home? They didn't answer. I called three times while I was stretching, and trying to kill the mega cramps in my legs. Finally, they picked up. Geez, people.

I ran a total of 10.2 miles and I think that might be my limit. For now anyway. That last mile really did hurt. My legs felt as though they were ready to give way and tighten up like a board all at the same time.

I laughed to myself when I was heading back and crossing the bridge. As I was getting down from it and was getting ready to run again, I saw a man run down to it and then turn back around. Why stop there, why not keep going? I did. It made me feel really good about myself. That I am willing to push myself further than others will.

The rest of the day was spent at the coffee house. And I mean that literally. I was there for six hours straight. Lots of tea. I finished my test, and then looked and discovered that I had gotten them backwards. The test was due on Sunday and the paper was due that night. Okay, time to get cracking. Considering that it was absolute, slopped together crap, I'm pretty impressed that I got a "B' on it. Woo. It was golden crap I guess.

Sunday was my lazy, time to recuperate, and take spin class day. After spin, I went home, cleaned the grill, killed some spiders with the water hose (yes, I am evil) and did a little painting. I saw this article in a magazine of mine about things you can do to spice up your space. One suggestion was to add metallic accents. I started thinking about it. I have a pretty neutral base going on throughout the house. Everyone tells me how comfortable it feels when they walk in, but there really isn't anything visually stimulating. So, I fixed it. I painted this metal tin I had (originally pink) with this sliver metallic paint and placed it on the coffee table with the remotes inside. Then, I glanced over at my garbage can. I have had that for three to four years. It is the most basic beige trashcan that Wal-Mart has to offer. It simply blends in with the wall. Let's fix that shall we?

The scratches on it actually made it look like brushed steel. Its really kind of cool looking. I might think about painting my table next. Not silver, but a more industrial darker color. Who knows, we will just have to wait and see.

Journey to the Twilight Zone

This past weekend seemed like the longest weekend of my life, but yet, flew by so quickly. Dududu dududu, how does that happen?

Friday Sarah S. and I had plans to go running after she returned from the hospital and check on her friend who was in labor. (He name is Berkley and he is soooo cute). So, I get to Sarah's house, change clothes, and we are out the door. Yay, we are running out of her subdivision, crossed the road and we are a few blocks down the road. We had a deer popped out in front of us at one point. Then, our ever so magnificent plans were thwarted by ever increasing water droplets falling from the sky.

We then begin running back to her house. With a new plan in place, I chatted with her new roommate (who happens to be a sorority sister) while she packed for the night ahead. We reach my house and remove the furniture from the living room. Why, because its Turbo time! Shake your body, come on now and groove it!

We did the all too familiar cardio party and ab jam. We use to do them all the time that we have the monologues memorized. "Step it to the back, come, and step it to the back." At one point, back in the day, Sarah tried to do the videos listening to different music, but was unsuccessful. The timing gets all screwed up.

Afterwards, it was like 9 and we showered, got dressed and headed off to dinner after finally making a selection. We were urbanspooning trying to find somewhere new or somewhere we had never been to. None of them were open that late. Oh well. We both got the big Zack Snack. We were so hungry and exhausted that we cleaned our plates. That never happens.

One our way downtown and trying to find a place to park (why do we ever circle, just go straight to the parking deck and call it a night) we found out some pretty amazing news. Lindsay had just gotten engaged that day! Wooo, its about freaking time y'all.

Our first stop was to our favorite place, the Winery. Femme Fatal for two please. Then we headed over to Allgood to check out this ring. We saw an old familiar face. Michael, who's wife recently had a baby was out. Apparently his wife, Carey, was asleep and he woke her so that he could bring him out. Okie dokie. I can just imagine how that convo went. "Hey, hey, wake up, I wanna go out." (I can just him poking her in the head).

I gave him a great big hug. The last time that I saw him, it was at his place, they had not yet announced the pregnancy, and we were playing cranium. He got all mad because Lindsay were kicking butts and taking names.

He just started looking at me. "You've cut your hair, and its lighter, and you've lost weight." Wow, very observant (no sarcasm here, believe it or not.)

After drinking half of Lindsay's and my own "Plan B," yes that is what it is called, we ran into Jamie. We were on our way out and I couldn't finish mine, so he did, in less than five seconds.

Then we headed over to see another friend while he worked our other usual place. He made me another kick you in the butt drink.

The rest of the night was pretty uneventful, particularly since I couldn't sleep. I think that I went to bed at 3:30.

Saturday morning was an early one for me. I woke up at 5:30 unable to sleep anymore. So, I cleaned the house in prep for a viewing and went to the store for more food for Mo. I left it out and then I was on my way.

Every time that I drive to Atlanta, I get more and more shocked at how well I know my way around. I use to, just in the last few years, get so scared there, but its like I finally woke up and all this usual navigational knowledge came back to me. When I got off the highway, I remember and knew exactly where I was. I almost turned down a road thinking that I was going somewhere else instead of my actual destination because I had done it so many times. Serious déjà vu. I past the grocery store where I use to go shopping with a certain individual. I went down roads that I would travel almost every weekend. Crazy.

This was also the weekend that my baby bro was moving in to his new college. When I went over to see him, I had another flood of memories. Like the first time that I moved into my first apartment. I was so scared. I remembered waking up in the middle of the night, and not knowing where I was.

His place was a little cramped though with all the boxing and such. I asked him to stop for a minute and come out and hang with Sarah N. and I. He said "no" because apparently he had so much to do. Dude, you have all weekend to do this.

Oh well, I got her all to myself. So, we went to Lenox for some of my very special and expensive makeup. It lasts forever though. In fact, I just now finished off the powder that Matt gave me on our first Christmas together. (See, told ya).

After that, and a little people watching, it was time to go elsewhere. We were going to try to watch this competition that was going on in one of the parks, like those stupid obstacle courses where people get hurt, but were worried about the weather changing on us. So, after a few unsuccessful stops at a few stores, we went home for a quick nap.

After which, I dove into Sarah's closet looking for something for me to borrow for the night. Yep, this one will work. I was shocked to see that I actually own more shoes than her. Then we headed for dinner at this great place called Tap. It was so cool. I want to go back. YUM.

Then it was time to hit midtown. We went to this place that is two stories tall and has like five bars there. There were people everywhere. Then we met Tony and Kenny. Tony came up and starting telling us this story about his best friend and started talking to Sarah. Then, a few minutes later, his friend Kenny (das German) came over and started talking to me. Man, you can't fake that accent. Apparently he works for BMW and is only here for two more weeks. He is also an amateur photographer and runner. He had pics on his iphone 4. I was more interested in the phone and playing with it than I was the pictures, but they were really good. Plus, the phone's apps were in German. It was really weird looking at it.

Finally, it was time to head home. We woke up the next day feeling kinda crappy and decided that we needed some brunch. I finally met the infamous Dale. He is so cute and he bought me a white mocha. Already on my good side.

On our way back to the car, Sarah and I both kind of cocked our heads to the side and noticed that there was this giant dent in her car. CSI Sarah was on the case. We called the police, they came and examined it and found only one explanation... the valet.

Stay tuned for that story wrap up.

Victory

Friday afternoon we had a huge storm here. It had knocked down trees, debris was all in the roads and such, and when I got home, my power was out. However, the rain had cooled things down quiet a bit. So, I had to. I went for a run when I should have been packing to visit parents. Oh well, roll with the punches.

I got down to my usual stopping point by the EPA, and then I did it. I pushed myself and kept going. I ran down to the bridge, walked on top of it, then kept on going. I past the loop, and then I finally made it to my final destination, my old gym. To celebrate, I just had to take a picture... or two.

I know that I get really red in the face when I workout. My mother use to call me her pink baby. Awww, so cute, right?

Friday's Circus

Man I cannot believe that this week is already over. Geez, where did it go?

Today, I have an uddle of things to get done before even thinking about this weekend starting, which will be tonight, eek. Get crackin' Mere.

Yesterday is really when all the madness ensued. I was writing a paper for Microeconomics yesterday, all the while my friend, Stefan, was tutoring me for my test for the same via gchat from Seattle.

Then I had personal training last night. I warned up on the treadmill, got those familiar pains in my legs. Then, out of no where, my trainer, Brian, popped up from behind the machine. Where the crap did you come from? Apparently his 5:30 didn't show and he was ready to take me on. Well then, lets get started.

We did my arms for a minute and then it was time for some leg curls. Ouch, crap, that really freaking hurts. I told him what was going on, and then he informed me that I have shin splints. He explained that he suffers from them as well due to his lack of an arch. Simple fix, I need insoles or shoes with them built in. He gave me lots of good advice. Thanks buddy.

Then it was time for more torture. Apparently I have the ability to make things look far to easy while working out. In fact, if I do, he will crank up the weight or resistance until I make my so famous and popular "sour faces." He even tried to recreate them to show me just how silly they look. Yeah, don't do that.

Then he made me do "triangle" push ups. Whoever thought of those needs to be shot. What the crap, those really freaking hurt.

Then, the time came. I had to decide who I was going to keep as a trainer. I told him that I was probably going to stick with Jenna since, you know, she's a girl and I'm a girl. I can talk to her more easily about the particular areas that are more trouble for females. However, I did express my dissatisfaction with the fact that I couldn't keep them both. Then, just as I was saying it, Dante walked by. I talked to him about it for a minute, and guess what? I do, I do get to keep them both. Yay!! Super exciting. Although they did say that they were going to team up now and make sure that my life was a living hell. Oh goody, what did I bring on myself now? Just kidding. I am really excited because they both are terrific trainers. Who would have thought that I could have my cake and eat it too?

Now, today, I have been trying to schedule mediation's, line of the proper CLE credits for my bosses, and still have to submit my paper and take my test. Then its off to start this fabulous weekend. I don't have it all planned out just yet, but the first stop is a meeting with my CAR State Society. Woot. My mom actually thought that I would wear my ribbon to Workshop. Oh Mama, aren't you silly. No senior member wears their member ribbon to a workshop. In fact, I will only wear it when I am at a board meeting or formal banquet. Sorry.

Anyway, time to get a move oh. Hi-yah! [insert whip crack here]

"Another great weekend" -Rickey

Yes, yes Rickey it was.

On Friday I came into work and my coworker looked at me like I was nuts. Okay, maybe I am, but this is nothing new. I asked why I warranted such a look.

"Its Friday. Where are you going?"

"What do you mean?"

"Its Friday."

"Yeah?"

"Where are your jeans?"

"I don't own any?"

And then I got another look. Excuse me for wearing a day dress on casual Friday. My bad.

Anyway, towards the end of the day, I helped one of the partners move furniture out of the smaller conference room for these young attorneys that are going to rent the space from us. They were suppose to be here two weeks ago, but yeah... I was pretty impressed with myself, we didn't break anything and I was quiet helpful, dress and all.

Friday night I just stayed at home and did laundry and went grocery shopping. (But somehow forgot the milk. How do I always forget the milk?) I actually did manage to get to bed early.

When I woke up the next day, I turned and looked at the clock. 10:00 o'clock, nah, can be, that would mean that I slept for 11 hours straight! Apparently my body was very tired. After all, in the last two weeks I had only missed one day of working out.

Then I got up and headed off on my great adventures. First stop, baby shower. Yay, Andrea is having a baby. It was great to meet her mom and brother from out of town. They drove... 7 or 6 states to be there for the weekend. That's dedication. After helping "mom" and "dad" load the car, it was off to my next stop. The big ATL. (Doesn't it seem like I am always there?)

First I drove to see my friend perform in a dance show. I passed the building like six times before I actually found it. You need a bigger sign people! I started freaking out because I hate being lost, even more so in a town that I am not familiar with. I stopped at a gas station to use the restroom and then to try and find my way via GPS on my phone. When I entered the store, I got harassed by what I think was a woman. She wouldn't leave me alone. All I wanted to do was use the restroom, please let me go. Ahh.

Needless to say, I was sort of a wreck, so I stopped and got a bite to eat, calmed down and then met up with my friend Rickey to see Britt perform.

I left during the intermission though, because it was time for my next stop. Sarah S. and Sarah N. were on they way back from California. So, I headed over to Sarah N.'s apartment to await her arrival.

I sat there for an hour. An hour. Her neighbors felt sorry for me and tried to bring me out something to sit on. I was fine though. I just got tired of pacing back and forth in front of her door looking like a moron, so I decided to sit in front of her door like a moron. Oh well. Thanks to Adam B., for keeping me company.

Finally, they arrived. Apparently the hold up was the fact that Sarah N.'s parents were side swiped on their way to the airport, and being the man that Mr. N. is, he chased them down to get the license number. You go boy! We chatted for a bit, and then I changed into PJ's and watched Sarah N. unpack and then we watched TV. Okay, maybe she did and I just feel asleep on the couch. I had a really long day people.

Anyway, the next day, I was up bright and early. Showered, got ready for the day ahead and then... I sat, and I sat, and then I sat some more. Sarah apparently had no intentions of getting an early start. It wasn't until 2 that we left her apartment for our first stop of the day.

IKEA!! Wooo, my favorite store. She had never been and since she has been in her apartment for over a year now, it was time to decorate. So we walked through the displays, which are my favorite parts. Took pictures, and I got to see what a possible apartment of mine will look like since I may be moving into a 695 square foot space. (Someone shoot me now)

Can I please just go ahead and buy my NYC pint house? Please.

Anyway, whilst we were in the process of picking a majestic palm tree, later to be name Pablo, I ran into a familiar face. I thought that I had seen his wife walking around, but I just dismissed it. But, there he was, a face from my past. Santana. We chatted for a minute, asked about each other's work and so forth. He then offered me his old LSAT books and an actually test. Who knows where he got it, but hey, pass it over. Yay for connections. This is why you never burn your bridges people.

The funny thing is that last weekend I ran into another old face. I ran into Chase while I was out shopping with my mom. He married my old roommate from college, and apparently they are still married. That is a real shocker because that woman was nuts, and he knew it too.

Anyway, then after all our shopping, it was time for Sarah and I to decorate. We started hanging things on her wall when she starting getting text messages like rapid fire while I was stuck holding this large wall hanging. "Um , Sarah, could you help please?"

She downloaded the level app on her phone just so we could make sure that it was all straight and what not. I had to use her pink tool kit though. Really? I guess I really have no room to talk though, mine is purple.

After hanging everything and checking it out, it started raining like crazy. Looks like its time for me to move on to my next stop.

I navigated my way through midtown in the pouring rain, although, I was thoroughly surprised. I did quiet well, although, I have to admit, I did know the area from a long time ago.

You guessed it, the doc. I spent a lot of time in Atlanta during the three years that we dated. As I was driving I kept thinking, "Oh, yeah, didn't what's her face live over there? Isn't that where we got Thai that one time?"

Isn't it strange some of the things that you remember? Anyway, I finally got to my destination, got my dutch oven, which was two minutes prior used as a hat. Ewww. "Would anyone like pasta to go along with that hair?" Oh well, Matt and I chatted for a second in the rain. Sorry that your car got wet.

Then it was time to turn around again, and I was off. The rain was coming down harder than before and it was really difficult to see. But, I made record time back to town. 70 minutes. That's right, 70 minutes.

I went to Sarah S.'s house to a little dinner and to find out how the trip was for her. We talked for a long time, and dinner was fantastic. Baked fish with lemon, tomato and mozzarella salad and red mashed potatoes. I also told her about another little stop and chat of mine. While stopped at a red light in Lawrenceville, who should pull up next to me but her ex. Awesome. He rolled down his window, so I couldn't ignore him. Awkward to the umpteenth degree. Thank goodness it was a short light.

Ahh, and now, its Monday, and the punches keep on coming. When will life finally slow down? At this rate, I'm afraid that I will miss it.
